This week-long course is designed to help students thrive socially and intellectually. These non-competitive storytelling games are played in groups of 4-6 students with no electronics, and provide a low-risk environment for children to experiment with social roles, assume leadership positions, deal with success and failure, build cooperation skills, and grow self-esteem. After working together to solve the puzzles presented through game play, students will learn how to design and lead their own game adventures, creating thoughtful challenges and engaging worlds in which players interact. This course emphasizes critical thinking, creative writing, reading and comprehension, public speaking, social studies, probabilities, and social interaction through academically oriented gaming. This class is tailored for boys and girls from 3rd to 8th grade. Students are organized into gaming groups with others within their age range.
