The Teen Substance Abuse Awareness Seminar is designed to educate at-risk youth about the nature and consequences of addictive behaviors. The seminar plants seeds of knowledge and understanding of self-medicating behavior, legal and personal consequences, and methods to initiate and support behavioral changes. Participants will increase their knowledge of substance abuse and related consequences and dangers, gain an understanding of behavioral recovery and how to access support, understand what drives addictive behaviors and how to use alternative resources to aid in working through personal issues without resorting to self-medication, and increase their understanding of the legal, social and familial ramifications of their behaviors.
